From the Proterozoic Era through the mid-Paleozoic Era, all the creature action on Earth was underwater.

With the beginning of the Middle Proterozoic comes the first evidence of oxygen build-up in the atmosphere. Life underwater continues to become more complex, still, we must wait nearly another billion years until the first amphibious tetrapods emerge from beneath a Devonian
tide and began to colonize the land.
